Learning design teams often lack sufficient cultural perspectives to design for a diverse, equitable, and inclusive learning experiences. My work seeks to incorporate sociocultural perspectives intentionally learning designs using human-centered methods for developing empathy.

Human-centered educational technology design means that the learner must be considered in all aspects of learning design. This includes (1) the technological, which is how the learner uses the system; (2) the pedagogical, which has to do with understandable instructions and learning materials; and (3) the sociocultural, which has to do with how learners' backgrounds and cultures influence how they learn.
